Healthy Treats, Happy Pups

Hi there! Today, I want to share with you more about the healthy ingredients and products that I use in my dog bakery. As a former dog owner (but still at heart), I understand the importance of knowing what our furry friends eat and how it affects their health. That's why I prioritize creating treats that not only look good but are also nutritious and appropriate for dogs. In fact, my motto is "I wouldn't give anything to your dog that I wouldn't give to mine."

So, shall we start? For the base of most of my treats, such as cookies, pupcakes, and cakes, I use wholesome ingredients such as oat flour, eggs, peanut butter, banana, carrot, and honey. These ingredients not only offer a variety of flavors but are also beneficial for dogs' health. As a new bakery, I'm keeping it simple for now and focusing on what works best for my furry clients.

Toppings and decorations were a challenging process for me because I had to ensure that everything was edible and safe for dogs while also allowing me to have an appropriate texture to decorate the treats. I experimented with different options, such as corn starch with yogurt or rice flour, water, and egg whites. However, these toppings didn't maintain their texture and looked unappealing once dried. Eventually, I discovered xanthan gum, a natural thickener made by the fermentation of bacteria, which is commonly found in wet dog food and human food. I use 1g per 8 cookies, and it helps to avoid cracking from the icing.

For pupcakes and cakes, I use a mixture of potatoes and yogurt as a frosting substitute. This option has a similar texture to traditional frosting and is a healthier option for dogs compared to cream cheese frosting, which is heavy in lactose. Products with this type of decoration have a lifespan of no more than 2 days. This is because I'm using potatoes and no additives, so with time, it begins to get sour, and we don't want that for our dogs. So, my advice is not to wait too much time to give it to your pet and always keep it in the refrigerator (for pupcakes and cakes).

And lastly, my favorite discovery for decoration is carob powder. It resembles chocolate, but it is not harmful to dogs and offers a great smell and texture. I use it for dripping or writing texts on the cookies.

Creating healthy treats with appealing decorations, without any harmful additives or ingredients, has been a challenge, but I'm committed to providing the best for our furry friends. I hope this blog gives you a better understanding of my bakery and products. You can trust our brand, knowing that your dog is my dog, and everything is handmade with love and with their health in mind. đŸ¶â€ïž
